Cleaning and maintenance of a white sofa at home
The sofa in white color, as a rule, looks very stylish and advantageous in any interior. However, light furniture can be more whimsical in care, because on white all the dirt looks more noticeable than on color.
Dirty upholstery and greasy seats quickly spoil the elegant and sophisticated atmosphere in the house.
Cleaning a white sofa can be a difficult challenge, but you need to master this particular art form if you have soft furniture in your home.
Of course, it would be better to give your light sofa in the hands of professionals. But this is not a cheap pleasure, which on average will cost you $ 100-200. If you do not see the need to pay for what you can do yourself, there are some cheap home remedies that will remove dirt and stains from your white sofa.
The main rule you should learn is to take your time and always test any type of cleaning in an inconspicuous area before using it everywhere. Then you will be sure that you will not aggravate the situation, but in reality will clean the sofa.
Cleaning of a white sofa occurs in several stages:
1. Vacuum sofa
Using a soft nozzle, walk around the surface of the sofa with a vacuum cleaner. This will remove excess dirt and dust that may increase stain when wet scrubbing.
2. Remove stains immediately after they form.
Blot the stain with a clean, white cloth slightly moistened with water.
Stains from coffee and wine can be removed with a homemade paste, to do this, mix baking soda and water in equal proportions. Apply the paste to the place of pollution and leave for a couple of minutes. Then wipe off the residue with a clean towel.
Salt can be applied to a fresh red wine stain and then all residues can be removed. This should help get rid of the stain.
Traces of oil textures are removed with the help of corn starch. Apply it for 15-20 minutes, and then vacuum the surface of the sofa. This will help in most cases when dealing with this type of stain.
3. Use foam
Take a deep bowl and pour 1/2 cup of laundry detergent for hand washing. Add 1/4 cup of water. Use a mixer to create a whipped frothy paste. If the paste is too watery, add a little powder.
4. Clean the entire sofa with the resulting foam.
You can apply the foam to the entire surface of the white sofa using a slightly damp, clean towel. Roundabout walk a few times in particularly polluted places.
5. Vacuum the sofa again
After the light sofa dries (on average, it can take up to 48 hours) once again go around the entire surface with a vacuum cleaner with a soft nozzle. This will help remove residual cleaning agent from the upholstery of the sofa.
- Use water of suitable temperature. If you are not dealing with a stain from blood or other body fluids, you should always use cold water to clean a white sofa. For blood based on enzymes, you can use hot water.
- Always remove stains with blotting movements. Never rub the stain on a white sofa. Thus, you only increase the stain, blurring its boundaries.
- The key to cleaning a white sofa is repetition. If any step does not produce the desired results, try again.
